Q&A –
1. What excites you about your work? What makes you get out of bed and want to get to work?
Being part of the property and construction sector is really exciting. It has such a direct impact on our day-to-day life, so it’s good to be able to contribute to that.
Plus, I’m proud of the contribution that I can make to our team’s, who balance, client requirements, architectural limitations, new technology with the engineering and consulting required to pull off a project.
2. How do services engineers add value to projects?
As I’m not an engineer, I don’t really deliver for our clients directly. But I guess, I help BSE work as a company by making complex financial processes as simple as possible, issuing invoices on time and correctly, and following up on receivable funds to keep cashflow working. This allows our engineers to focus on the engineering and project delivery.
3. Did you choose the property/ construction industry as an intentional career choice, or did it choose you?
Before joining BSE, I worked in banking and finance for manufacturing and major buildings. It was one part of the process, but I was never able too really see the impacts of the funds, I wasn’t involved in later stages to see the finished building.
Now I get to see how it all works, the architectural and the engineering. And it allows me to use my skills better, so I guess it chose me really.
